 Pinarayi Vijayan is an Indian politician and the current Chief Minister of Kerala. He was born on May 24, 1945, in Pinarayi, a small village in the Kannur district of Kerala. Vijayan is a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), also known as CPI(M), which is a left-wing political party in India.

Vijayan started his political career during his college days as a student activist. He became actively involved in politics and joined the CPI(M) in 1964. Throughout his political journey, he held various positions within the party and played a significant role in its growth and development in Kerala.
