 Nitish Kumar is an Indian politician who has served as the Chief Minister of Bihar, a state in eastern India, on multiple occasions. He was born on March 1, 1951, in Bakhtiarpur, Bihar. Nitish Kumar is a member of the Janata Dal (United) party, which is a regional political party in Bihar.

Educational Background:

Nitish Kumar completed his schooling from the Bihar Military Police No. 5 Primary School in Bakhtiarpur. He later attended the Bihar College of Engineering in Patna, where he received a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering. He then pursued a Master's degree in Political Science from the Patna University.

Political Career:

Nitish Kumar's political career began in the 1970s when he joined the socialist movement led by Jayaprakash Narayan. He was actively involved in the "JP Movement," which aimed to overthrow the authoritarian rule of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. During this period, Nitish Kumar was briefly imprisoned.

In 1985, Nitish Kumar was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) to the 8th Lok Sabha from the Harnaut constituency in Bihar. He continued to serve as an MP in the subsequent Lok Sabha elections. In 1990, he became the Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Cooperation in the central government.

Nitish Kumar's first term as the Chief Minister of Bihar began on March 3, 2000. However, his tenure was short-lived, as he resigned within a week, taking moral responsibility for the state's deteriorating law and order situation. He returned to power in 2005 after forming a coalition government with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and served as the Chief Minister until 2014.

During his tenure as Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar focused on developmental initiatives and implemented various schemes aimed at improving infrastructure, education, healthcare, and the overall welfare of the people of Bihar. Some notable initiatives include the construction of roads, bridges, schools, and hospitals, as well as the implementation of the Right to Public Service Act to ensure timely delivery of government services.

In 2014, Nitish Kumar's party suffered a significant defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, and he resigned as Chief Minister.
