Manohar Lal Khattar (CM) Haryana Biography

 

Manohar Lal Khattar is an Indian politician and member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He served as the Chief Minister of the state of Haryana in India from October 2014 to July 2022. Born on May 5, 1954, in Rohtak, Haryana, Khattar has had a long and successful political career.

Before entering politics, Manohar Lal Khattar worked as a full-time worker of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a Hindu nationalist organization. He held various positions within the RSS and played an active role in organizing social and welfare activities.

Khattar joined the BJP in 1994 and quickly rose through the ranks. He held several key positions within the party, including that of the party's national secretary and national spokesperson. He also served as the president of the BJP's Haryana state unit for 12 years.

In 2014, the BJP emerged as the largest party in the Haryana Legislative Assembly elections, and Khattar was chosen as the Chief Minister of the state. This marked his first term as the head of the government. During his tenure, Khattar focused on several key areas such as improving governance, promoting transparency, and implementing various developmental projects.

Khattar's tenure as Chief Minister was marked by various initiatives and reforms. He aimed to improve the state's education system, agricultural practices, and infrastructure development. He also launched schemes to promote skill development, employment opportunities, and women's empowerment.

However, his tenure was not without controversy. Khattar faced criticism on several occasions, including incidents of violence and law and order issues in the state. Nevertheless, he managed to secure a second term as Chief Minister in the 2019 Haryana Legislative Assembly elections.

In July 2022, Manohar Lal Khattar resigned from the post of Chief Minister after serving for almost eight years. His resignation came following the BJP's defeat in the 2022 Haryana Legislative Assembly elections. His successor was announced as Anil Vij.

Overall, Manohar Lal Khattar has played a significant role in Haryana politics and has made efforts to bring about developmental changes in the state during his tenure as Chief Minister.
