 Dutee Chand is an Indian sprinter who specializes in the 100-meter and 200-meter events. She was born on February 3, 1996, in Jajpur, Odisha, India. Dutee rose to prominence in the world of athletics with her impressive performances and her courageous fight against gender discrimination in sports.

Dutee's journey in athletics began at a young age when she started competing in local races. In 2012, she won two bronze medals at the Asian Junior Championships in the 200-meter and 4x400-meter relay events. She continued to make progress in her career, and in 2013, she won a silver medal in the 200-meter event at the Asian Athletics Championships.

In 2014, Dutee faced a significant setback when she was banned from competing by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) due to her hyperandrogenism condition. Hyperandrogenism is a medical condition in which the body produces higher than normal levels of androgens, such as testosterone. The ban was based on regulations that targeted female athletes with naturally high testosterone levels.

Dutee Chand challenged the ban, taking her case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which eventually ruled in her favor in 2015.
