Kushal Pal Singh Biography
Singh completed his early education in Dehradun, and later pursued a degree in science from Meerut College. He then joined the Indian Army's Engineering Corps and served for a brief period before deciding to venture into the real estate business.
In 1946, Singh's father, Chaudhary Raghvendra Singh, founded DLF (Delhi Land and Finance) to develop residential colonies in Delhi. After his father's passing in 1975, Singh took over the leadership of the company and embarked on transforming DLF into a major player in the Indian real estate industry.
Under Singh's leadership, DLF played a crucial role in the development of Gurugram (formerly Gurgaon), a satellite city of Delhi. DLF was involved in developing numerous residential, commercial, and retail projects, including DLF City, DLF Cyber City, and DLF Emporio, among others. The company's projects contributed significantly to the transformation of Gurugram into a major corporate and commercial hub.
K.P. Singh's business acumen and vision made DLF a prominent name in the Indian real estate sector. He adopted a forward-thinking approach, focusing on large-scale developments, and creating integrated townships that provided a wide range of amenities and infrastructure.
Singh's achievements and contributions to the real estate industry have earned him numerous accolades and recognition. In 2007, he was named the world's richest real estate baron by Forbes magazine. He has received several awards and honors, including the Padma Bhushan, one of India's highest civilian awards, in 2010.

K.P. Singh retired from his position as chairman of DLF Limited in 2019, handing over the reins of the company to his son, Rajiv Singh. However, he continues to be associated with DLF as Chairman Emeritus and provides guidance and mentorship to the company.
