Himanta Biswa Sarma (CM) Biography Assam

 Himanta Biswa Sarma is an Indian politician and the current Chief Minister of the state of Assam. He was born on February 1, 1969, in Ulubari, Guwahati, Assam. Sarma is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and has been actively involved in politics for several years.

Educational Background:

Himanta Biswa Sarma completed his schooling from Kamrup Academy in Guwahati. He pursued his higher education at Cotton College, where he obtained his Bachelor's degree in Law. Later, he earned a Ph.D. in Political Science from Gauhati University.

Political Career:

Sarma began his political journey in the late 1990s and early 2000s when he joined the Indian National Congress (INC). He served as a member of the Congress party for more than two decades and held various positions within the party.

During his tenure with the Congress, Sarma held several important portfolios in the Assam government, including the Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Education, and Finance. However, in 2015, he resigned from the Congress party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Since joining the BJP, Sarma has played a crucial role in the party's rise in the northeastern states, particularly Assam. He has been a key strategist and campaign manager for the BJP in the region. In 2016, he was elected as a member of the Assam Legislative Assembly from the Jalukbari constituency.

Sarma's political career took a significant turn in May 2021 when he was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Assam. He succeeded Sarbananda Sonowal and became the 15th Chief Minister of the state.

As Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma has focused on various aspects of governance, including infrastructure development, education, health, and welfare of the people of Assam. He has implemented several welfare schemes and initiatives aimed at improving the lives of the people.
