Bhupesh Baghel ( CM ) Chhattisgarh Biography

 Bhupesh Baghel is an Indian politician and the current Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, a state in central India. He belongs to the Indian National Congress (INC) party and has been serving as the Chief Minister since December 17, 2018.

Born on August 23, 1961, in Durg, Chhattisgarh, Bhupesh Baghel hails from a middle-class agricultural family. He completed his education in law and holds an LLB degree from the Government V.Y.T. Post Graduate Autonomous College in Durg. Baghel actively participated in student politics during his college years and was associated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

In the early years of his political career, Baghel joined the youth wing of the INC, known as the Indian Youth Congress (IYC), and rose through the ranks. He held various positions within the party, including that of the General Secretary of the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CPCC) and the President of the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Youth Congress (CPYC).

Baghel's political journey gained significant momentum when he was elected as a member of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly in 2004 from the Patan constituency. He retained the seat in the subsequent assembly elections held in 2008, 2013, and 2018. During this period, he held several key positions within the Chhattisgarh government, including the Minister of Revenue, Public Health Engineering, Relief and Rehabilitation, and Commerce and Industries.

In December 2018, after the INC emerged as the single largest party in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly elections, Bhupesh Baghel was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh. His tenure has focused on various social welfare programs and initiatives to uplift the marginalized sections of society, including farmers and tribal communities. He has implemented schemes such as Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, Nyuntam Aay Yojana, and Haat Bazaar Clinic to address the needs of farmers, provide minimum support price for crops, and improve healthcare facilities in rural areas.

As Chief Minister, Baghel has also emphasized sustainable development, environmental conservation, and the empowerment of women. He has initiated projects like the Godhan Nyay Yojana, which aims to promote organic farming and manage waste by utilizing cow dung as a resource.

Bhupesh Baghel is known for his inclusive approach and efforts to bridge the urban-rural divide in Chhattisgarh. His tenure as Chief Minister has witnessed significant developmental initiatives and welfare schemes, aiming to improve the overall socio-economic conditions of the state and its people.
